What Does the following abdominal Ultrasound Indicate?

I just had my abdominal ultrasound .the result shows that my right kidney measures 11.6×2.9×4.2 cm.There is crotical thinning , the cortex measures 0.9 cm.The left kidney measures 11.8×4.8×4.6cm, there is crotical thinning, the cortex measures 1.3cm. I want to know what does that mean ? Am I in a serious condition? Are my kidneys ok or not? Please I am desperate for an answer. Thanks

Hello

Cortical thinning in kidneys is generally due to increased pressure inside the pelvis of kidney. It is commonly seen in hydronephrosis of kidneys and hydronephrosis may be due to obstruction, reflux etc.
Status of hydronephrosis is not mentioned in your query.
You may need further tests for assessing kidneys function.
You may need routine investigations like routine hemogram, complete renal function. You may need CT urography.
There should be underlying reason for thinning and it should be corrected.

Get well soon.
Take Care
